We jumped to our next lilypad this afternoon, in the middle of a doozy of a storm. Now we’re snug and warm, and dinner is simmering, and we’re grateful to good friends who let us stay in their homes.

When suddenly it‘s 6pm and I realize that I haven‘t sketched yet today, there‘s always the dinner ingredients.

We have a bit of a tradition of hosting a small dinner party on or near the full moon. We have sunset/moonrise views here that are worth contemplating with a special beverage in hand. It doesn’t happen every month. Some years it doesn’t happen at all (I’m looking at you, Covid). But it was good to kick off 2023 with a little gathering of friends.

The secret to a cohesive vegan shepherd’s pie is to cook steel cut oats with the lentils. I use this recipe. Hmm-mmm.
