
I was happy to see this out on the trails today! One of the last wildflowers to bloom in summer, vinegar weed is a favourite of mine. I love the smell, reminiscent of a sea salt and vinegar chip.
The volatile oils make it unpalatable to grazing and foraging animals, but useful to humans. The indigenous peoples of California used it as a traditional medicinal plant, as a cold and fever remedy, a pain reliever, and an insect repellent.
