hot water

Around here, we lean heavily towards DIY, as opposed to hiring an expert. Mostly this means saving a lot of money. Mostly it also means that repairs take a longer time. But then, skills and knowledge are gained, so that’s a plus. And there’s the couples bonding that comes with crouching uncomfortably in tight spaces, breathing decades-old dust, barking knuckles, lifting heavy things, and solving problems.

All’s well that end’s well. We have hot water in the kitchen again!

resuscitated

You know when you put off doing something because you think it’s hard, and then you finally do it and it was really easy? So you wonder why on earth you didn’t do it long ago? Yeah, that.

When my first key stopped opening the car door remotely, I put it away and used the second key until its battery also started dying. This morning I spent a few minutes on Youtube, then realized that I had the right sized batteries. Voila, both fobs are now resuscitated. I don’t know if I should feel inordinately pleased with myself or embarrassed that it took me so long to get to such a simple task.

Now I’m asking myself, what other inconveniences am I tolerating that could be mitigated with less than five minutes’ effort?
